Nothing has teased the Ear (open) 2 with a shiny blue Flaaffy Pokémon, expected to launch globally in late May or June 2026.
The new open-ear earbuds will keep the comfortable hook design with improved battery, sound quality, and fresh blue color option.
Expected to launch in India around July-August at ₹10,000–12,000 with better battery and refined audio performance.

A few days ago, Nothing dropped a cryptic post on its official community – a shiny Flaaffy Pokémon (blue-and-white) with the caption “On the moodboard: retrofuturist furniture, transparent speaker systems, sports equipment, industrial objects, sculptures by De Wain Valentine.” Those familiar with Nothing’s pattern will know what this is all about.
When Nothing Ear (open) was first launched in September 2024, it was teased with the normal (pink) version of this Flaaffy. Now, seeing the shiny version, many have assumed that either a new color variant is coming, or it’s directly Nothing Ear (open) 2. Sites like Beebom have referred to it as Ear (open) 2, although some sources like 91mobiles say that it could actually be a new color variant of the current Ear (open).
The blue-white-black scheme seen in the teaser is quite attractive. The previous model was launched in a white or transparent look. This time, the blue shade has been added, making the look even fresher.
When could the launch happen?
Based on this teaser, the official announcement seems imminent. According to the community and leaks, the global launch is more likely to happen in late May or June 2026. However, in India, it comes a few months after the global launch, so it can be seen around July-August.

No official specs have been announced yet, so it’s all speculation. However, Nothing usually releases new versions with minor upgrades rather than major changes. Based on how the previous Ear (open) model left its mark on everyone, it is believed that the basic formula will be the same in the new one.
These open-ear earbuds do not go inside the ear, but sit on the ear with a hook. As a result, the surrounding sounds can be heard completely, which is very convenient for running, gym or office. The previous model featured 14.2mm titanium-coated dynamic drivers, which delivered balanced bass and clear vocals. Music sounds quite enjoyable due to Open Sound technology and bass enhancement.
Battery life on the model was rated at around 8hr on a single charge, with up to 30hr including the charging case. There was also fast charging support – 2hr of music play on a 10-minute charge (company claims). In addition, there are features like IP54 water and dust resistance, Bluetooth 5.3, AAC and SBC codecs, AI microphone (which reduces wind noise) and ChatGPT integration (when paired with a Nothing phone). The weight is fairly light, and the 50-degree tilt design does not cause problems even after a long time.
Previous model price and market status
The first Nothing Ear (open) was launched globally in September 2024, priced at around $149 (launch price in India ₹17,999). Later, it was seen in India for ₹9,999. It is estimated that the new version (Ear (open) 2 or new color) can be priced between ₹10,000 to ₹12,000 in India.
The new version will probably have a better battery, sound tuning will be more refined than before and a few new features may be added. However, the basic open-ear comfort and awareness formula seems to remain the same.
All in all, this teaser has created quite a bit of excitement among Nothing fans. For those who like open-ear earbuds, it is a waiting period. Now the only thing to see is whether this is a new model or just a color variant, let us know your thoughts in the comments.
