Google has unveiled Googlebook, its first true AI-centric laptop category built around Gemini Intelligence, set for Fall 2026 launch.
The standout Magic Pointer feature turns the cursor into a smart AI tool that understands screen context for instant suggestions and edits.
Featuring a signature Glowbar design and deep Android phone integration, Googlebook aims to deliver a premium AI-powered computing experience.

Google is adding a new laptop category to its product line, called Googlebook. This is their first AI-centric laptop, which is a completely different category from Chromebooks. Google is calling it an “AI laptop” because the entire device is built around Gemini Intelligence, meaning the laptop will be fully AI-integrated.
It has just been officially unveiled. The actual devices will be launched in Fall 2026 (September-October). However, what has been shown suggests that Google is once again looking to take this product to a premium level that will enhance the user experience. You can imagine premium quality smartphones like the Pixel series that are competing with premium phones like Apple in the market.
Magic Pointer – The most attractive feature
Its biggest highlight is Magic Pointer. It is a smart cursor that summons Gemini. When you point at an image, text or any part of the screen, Gemini understands that context and makes suggestions, edits, or answers questions. It is not just like working with commands, but it is like talking directly to what you see on the screen. In simpler terms, it is akin to the ‘Circle to Search’ feature, but significantly more intelligent and advanced.
In addition, Android apps will run directly on Googlebook. Your phone’s apps, files, notifications – everything will come to the laptop very easily. This is a big difference from Chromebook.

Google has shown a new design element – Glowbar. There will be a colorful LED light strip on the back of the laptop that will show various notifications and status. Google appears to be targeting a lightweight premium design.
No details on the processor, RAM, screen size, battery or price have been revealed yet. Google has only shown the concept and a few key features. The actual devices will be made with OEM partners like Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo.
Why is Googlebook important?
Earlier, Google relied only on Chromebooks. Now they are creating a new category themselves where AI will be the main focus. It looks like Google wants to make laptops smarter, more intelligent and easily connected to phones.
If this concept becomes a commercial product, it could mark Google’s biggest rethink of personal computing since Chromebooks. It could be quite attractive for those who want to use AI more in their daily work.
Since this is still an early preview, important details like pricing, hardware specifications and real-world performance remain unknown. Google has said that the actual Googlebook devices will be launched in Fall 2026 (September-October). We expect to see more details emerging in the coming months.
