Motorola is once again entering the world of foldable phones, this time in a book-style format. The phone, called the Motorola Razr Fold, is a large-screen foldable like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold instead of the classic clamshell Razr. It was first shown at CES 2026, and people are excited to know. Let’s find out when it will arrive, what the price range might be and when it will be available in India.
When is the launch date?
Motorola has confirmed that the Razr Fold will launch “later this year” i.e. in the summer of 2026. It can be expected between June and August. More details are expected to be shown at MWC 2026 (early March).
The launch in India usually takes place 1-2 months after the global launch. So the possible launch in India could be between September and October 2026. There is a chance of it being restocked on sites like Flipkart and Amazon.
What are the specs coming?
Motorola has not yet revealed the full specs, but some information has come to light from the CES preview and leaks. The biggest attraction of this phone is its incredibly thin design. It is just 4.6 millimeters thick when open, and 9.9 millimeters when folded. There is an 8.1-inch 2K LTPO foldable screen (120Hz+ refresh rate) inside and a 6.6-inch external display on the outside. Due to this design, the phone looks like a normal phone when closed, but when opened, it offers a completely different experience for multitasking and watching videos.
The camera system has a triple 50-megapixel rear setup (main + ultrawide + periscope telephoto), a cover selfie of 32 megapixels and an inner selfie of 20 megapixels. The battery is 6,000 mAh, with 80 watt wired and 50 watt wireless charging support. Processor Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 (as per Geekbench leak), RAM 12/16 GB and storage 256 GB + UFS 4.0.
Out of the box you will see Android 16, along with a promise of 7 years of OS and security updates. There is IP49 water resistance and Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 for durability. Two color options: Blackened Blue (rugged texture) and Lily White (smooth matte) – both Pantone certified.
What is the India price?
Globally, this phone is likely to come in the $1,500–$1,700 (~₹1,25,000–₹1,40,000) range. In India, it can start between ₹1,30,000 and ₹1,50,000 including import duty + tax. Motorola may compete with Samsung’s Z Fold 7, and because of this, the price may be a little competitive. But being a premium foldable, it is very unlikely to come under 1 lakh.
For those who want a foldable but don’t want to pay the price of Samsung or Google, the Motorola Razr Fold could be an attractive option. The slim design, good battery, and 7-year update promise are big plus points here.
